Word of Mouth

The October Bulletin – ‘one becomes two!’

Creative people usually lend themselves to many endeavours, and as many of you will already know I am the passionate artist and hairstylist at the helm of Orinoco + Bungo. In my down time I will usually be applying paint to canvas, or quite possibly renovating or decorating a room of my house…with my creativity spilling over into interiors I gained my interior design diploma back in 2017.

O + B back story; With a leap of faith Orinoco + Bungo began as an artistic retail business in early 2019 designing fabric, paintings and illustrations, then purposefully evolved into a dual offering; the hair salon it is now; and the art store behind the scenes designing t-shirts and creating full scale art works. With the salon going strong the strategy evolved with it, that being to seperate the offerings and to develop the artistic side of the business in a new location when the time was right.  I am therefore beyond excited to announce the new acquisition of my sister store Imagine That in Guildford, Perth.

Imagine That back story; Founded by interiors and picture framing specialist Susan Franklin, Imagine That began in Mount Lawley some 20 years ago and for the past 15 years has been a well-loved addition to the eclectic mix of vintage retail stores along the James Street shopping strip in Guildford. In the past few weeks, I have been mentored under Susan’s knowledgeable wing so as to continue to offer Perth customers the same beautiful interiors store with quality cowhides, exceptional home furnishings, wall art, home-décor and stylish leather goods. Creatively I strive to bring my own flair for design and interiors whilst offering the attention to detail and customer care that founder Susan fostered over her many years operating the store.

The store will continue to offer custom picture and mirror framing services with framing expert Quenna, at the helm. Quenna has been a professional framer for over 20 years and her expertise in this area is second to none.  As any art lover knows, how transformative the right frame can be for that prized art piece. Quenna is in store Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays and will guide you in making the right frame choices to suit your artworks.

Orinoco + Bungo will continue to offer hairdressing and beauty services on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Please be advised that pre-bookings in advance are strongly recommended to secure your hair or beauty appointment.

I look forward to meeting existing and new customers at both locations in the coming months…..Jay x
